could not tell us if the suspect, the gunman, shareef allman -- allman, was one of the employees. there was a shift change and then there was an argument and then allman left, went to his vehicle, returned with a gun and started shooting. two people were killed. one person escaped by jumping out the window. we spoke to another employee off camera who described the panic his coworkers -- his coworkers felt. >> the next thing i know the s.w.a.t. team is coming up. they come up and secure the stairway and elevator and they brought us out, like i said, ten at a time, and put us in the squad car and flew down the hill. >> reporter: here's what the scene looked like early their morning. dozen -- early this morning. dozens of officers scoring the quarry. one individual said allman had been workings as a loader/operator for 20 years. on monday workers said he was quieter than usual and yesterday, tuesday, he was actually avoiding people and not looking at them in the eye. . this was sent to us by his friends. he was 50 years old. he was on his way home from stockton. his friends say he had a daughter, a couple of grandchildren and worked at an apple store. they say he went out of his way to help his friends find jobs and now investigators say lopez was intentionally hit while riding his motorcycle saturday afternoon. it was a grisly scene unlike anything officers had seen. officials say eddie hall, a van driver, for transit is facing murder charges. we're told he will not be kept in a regular holding cell because officials fear for his safety and retaliation by hells angel. >> if they got him in isolation, they got to keep them there. i know there's a lot of people that love hells angels. >> reporter: we spoke to lopez's friends who were with him when the crash happened. they say there was no altercation before the indent that it was -- incident that it was completely provoked. >> that dude just snapped. i'm gonna tell you that trite now. there's no reason to do what he did. this guy ut cut like four lanes across and everybody slamming on the brakes. >> reporter

this noontime. sal is here to tell us about the impact the crash is having on traffic. first, tom is live on the scene to let us know the situation. tom. >> reporter: the road began opening about 22 minutes ago, after these repairs were made that needed to be made. and the situation was that at a time when there's very little traffic on the road a bizarre accident took place. this is what we know. it began just after 5 this morning when a big rig hauling a double trailer load of concrete powter tangled with three other vehicles. the result, an overturned and burning truck blocking all southbound lanes and a lot of debris including a section of steel guardrail on the streets below. two people were injured. the truck driver was pulled away from the fire by a good samaritan. but the chp says another good samaritan ten in on rescuing more people when there were no more to be rescued refused orders not to approach the wreck. >> be had to take him into -- detain the subject. >> street traffic was snarled for hours. besides fines and damages for injuries and vehicles, there's a big bill coming f

violence. new at noon, ktvu's allie rasmus joins us live with information just released by the san jose police department in the last hour. allie? >> reporter: actually, san jose police chief chris moore updated the number. he says san jose has had 37 homicides in all of this year. that's her than double the rate of last year, all of last year. so in light of all of that, police and the santa clara county d.a. had a press conference at san jose police headquarters. that press conference is still going on. at that conference, police had updates on two high-profile cases. the first, the hells angel shooting that happened -- that happened at the oakdale cemetery on saturday. police identified steven joseph ruiz as the man suspected of shooting and killing a fell local hells angel member at that funeral. police believe he and the victim got in an argument at the funeral right before that shooting happened and police say they do have a warrant for ruiz's arrest. but at this conference, police suggested ruiz might have been killed by other hells angels' members. >> he left his motorcycle at t

protesters. majority of them did not resist but a couple of them did police confirm they used bean bags. some are saying they see this as a violation to their first amendment rights. some said they are not giving up their cause. >> i feel like either way, the -- this isn't gonna kill the movement. it's such a big movement at this point, all they are doing is drawing more attention. >> reporter: an estimated 300 to 400 people had been camping out here for the past two weeks. it's part of the "occupy oakland" demonstration. hours after the raid you could see an entire -- you could see an entire area of tents and debris. four hours after the raid ended at 8:00 this morning, some supporters and protesters returned. there was a brief squirmish and police put up the barricades and surrounded the plaza again. back out here live, the barricades have been out here since 8:00 this morning. they remain out here. again, city leaders are clearing frank ogawa plaza in the distance. but "occupy oakland" proesters said they are planning another -- protesters said they are planning another demonstration for 4
